Yes, I have a shirt on
Hey hey all! I've been so busy gettin' my teach on that I've neglected my blog, boo. To let you know just how busy I've been, here are a couple of the highlights from the last week:
1 - With the groups in my neighborhood, we just do fun conversation stuff. My 12 year olds and I often play Parcheese together. The other day one wanted to roll a 2 to get to go into the safe zone and every turn he had, he kept saying the same thing, this little chant: "I want to take a 2, I want to take a 2..." I kept correcting him, "No, you want to roll a 2, not take a 2." But he kept saying take a 2, so I said, "do you know what that really means in English? It means "I want to go poop!" He was shocked and laughed so hard, it was great! English slang for the kiddies!
2 - For my 2nd lesson with the 10 year olds in the hood, I brought the words for "call me, maybe" so we could memorize it and sing it. It is one of the girls' favorite songs (God, I love writing favorite without a damn British U!). We got to the line that said "pennies and dimes for a kiss" and the girls started giggling and wouldn't stop. Finally I said, "What is so funny!?" With their Spanish accents and a strong accent on the first "e" in the word, they said, "pennies, hahahahaha!" When they said it out loud, I realized they thought it sounded awfully similar to penis, the way they would say it anyway. :)
I'm hoping to get a couple of posts in this weekend, as we've got 3 days thanks to the Virgin Pilar. Santander the first time and the Peaks of Europe, which are just amazing. Lovin's to ya!
